Course Catalog Description
CHEMISTRY 073 0100 - Basic Chemical Calculations
Arithmetical and algebraic operations as used in general chemical calculations, scientific notation, metric system of measurement and problem-solving techniques employed in general chemistry calculations. Writing assignments, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course. Prerequisites: Eligibility for Mathematics 99 or 112 or higher and concurrent enrollment in Chemistry 100 and Chemistry 121, or consent of department chair (CC). 1 lecture hour per week based on sixteen weeks. Credit Hours: 1
CHEMISTRY 073 0121 - Basic Chemistry I
Principles of general inorganic chemistry, including properties of matter, dimensional analysis, fundamentals of stoichiometry, interpretation of the periodic table, nomenclature and introduction to solution chemistry and commonly used concentration units. Writing assignments, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course. Prerequisites: Eligibility for Mathematics 99 or 112 or higher and concurrent enrollment in Chemistry 100 and Chemistry 121, or consent of department chair (CC). 2 lecture hours and 4 lab hours per week based on sixteen weeks. Credit Hours: 4
